Aircel services…what..? Yes, it’s Aircel and not Airtel. This cellular service is the dark horse that’s on the verge of being in the lead run soon. Most commonly you have heard of other cellular services like TATA, Vodafone, Airtel, BSNL etc and assumed it to be the best available. Aircel may very well prove you wrong as it has everything that takes to do it!

Aircel is a telecom operator with a very low profile, but of late, has been making news; not because of dazzling advertisements rather due to the quality of service provided. The fact that it is underrated adds on to more admiration from users. If one could recollect, Aircel was the sponsor of the ‘Chennai Superkings’ team in IPL. From a regional telecom service provider it is now all set to be the leading telecom operator of India. If analysts are to be trusted, this might be a likely possibility by the year 2010. It has already got an overwhelming response in the southern part of India, especially in Tamilnadu and some of the north-eastern states like Assam.

There are few traits of Aircel that has made it worthy of all the compliments it gets. Firstly, it scores high in network coverage. The network coverage is considered to be much better than any other in the market. Not just the major cities, but even smaller places are well connected! The network coverage is the best in north eastern states, Tamilnadu and Himachal Pradesh, making life miserable for the other competitors in the telecom sector. It was one of the early operators to provide GPRS and EDGE services, which gave a significant boost to its usage among the tech-savvy customers. The offers available are worth every penny of the user’s money. The tariff is the cheapest in the market; however one needs to place orders to get the exact details of the tariffs. Out of the postpaid and prepaid connections, prepaid is more preferable, just because postpaid services need a security deposit for STD and ISD usage.

The roaming facility too is quite up to the mark with no much hidden (shock giving) charges. Customer care is good, if not excellent. The only thing which can be said is that, the calls at least get connected to the customer care center! Moreover, there are values worth, value added services that are unique and attractive.

It is unanimously declared to be the best in Tamilnadu. There have been few complaints about foul play – BSNL numbers not quite reaching up with Aircel customers, citing a deliberate obstruction of calls from the company. Besides such trivial issues, the current users are more or less happy with the service offered. But, the old users of Aircel have a different story to tell – How Aircel is deteriorating in quality with passing years, how they are compromising on quality to increase their circles etc. Anyhow, Aircel in comparison to any of the so-called top service provider – Vodafone, Airtel, BSNL score much better in every front. If the going is all fine, we may soon have a better leading cellular service in the form of Aircel.
